Stacie Lech Photography is now open in downtown Bay City.  Fifth Street Studio is the new partnership of myself and my very talented friend Rachael Richards of Fifth Street Flowers.  Join us for an open house (or grand opening!) on May 5th, 2011.  We are celebrating during the First Thursday Gallery Walk which will have live music, a recycled fashion show and lots of artists displaying their work.  Stop in to say hi and enter to win some prizes.  (We're working on a doozy.)  You can view the facebook event page here

I remember when my kids were little and we lived in Bay City they would sometimes have their artwork displayed at Studio 23 for the student show.  Well now that we're back we get to do it all over again.  Julia's fish mask is there along with a lot of amazing work by local students.  It's bitter sweet because I love to see how talented the kids are, but with art programs constantly being cut I wonder how much they'll be able to learn about things like working with clay.  Any one can pick up a pencil and try to draw, but not every has access to clay and a kiln and glaze.  Anyway, you should head to downtown Bay City and check out the show.

I'm not sure if other business people are like this, but I have a difficult time deciding on colors and ideas for my logo and website.  I want to use all kinds of things and it's tough to narrow it down.  It's time for an update, my current site is more than 2 years old.  So the other day I was trying to come up with ideas and while I was driving around I saw a scene similar to the one above.  When you drive around mid Michigan this is a common winter scene, white farm fields and gray skies for miles and miles.  I really love the simplicity and calmness I feel when I look at this design.  I'm not sure if it's final, but for now I'm using it for some business cards.  The great thing about it is I can change the tree whenever I feel like it.  I can use just about anything.  I already have some ideas for spring.  Let me know what you think.  Leave a comment or find me on facebook.  And happy winter.

Happy New Year.  I know I'm a little late to the party, but I don't do well with strict rules anyway.  I haven't been blogging much which is something I'm going to change.  The truth is I'm not very fond of my blog so I tend to avoid it.  I want a new blog that better fits my style.  But instead of ignoring this one I'm going to start posting again until I get the new one up and running.

I have to go through piles of files in order to post the most recent images from the past few months, so instead of doing that right now I'm posting my favorite blog of the day.

Deciding what to make for dinner is always annoying.  I enjoy cooking, but never plan well enough to have all of the ingredients ready for 5 o'clock to begin the process so I'm usually scrambling to pull something together.  Today when I found this blog I immediately started drooling over the pork loin recipe.  Here I go off to the store so I'm ready at 5.  If you have a nice, somewhat healthy (or if it's simply delicious I don't care if it's healthy) recipe feel free to share.  I'm a big fan of vegetarian dishes and ethnic foods.

Mackenzie and Joel were married this past Saturday at Creative 365 in Midland, MI.  I just love their style so I had to quickly post one.  More to come!
